Not for the card itself. You do have to have a wireless router and internet service though.

If you don't have wireless internet at home, this device will allow you to connect to any unsecured wireless network that is in range of it as long as your computer has a pcmcia card slot on it. If I'm not mistaken only the older laptops have the pcmcia slot because all newer ones have built in wireless.
