After drying, we sprayed them with clear laquer, drilled a hole for entrance and small one for the dowel rod we cut for our feathered friends to stand on, drilled 3 tiny ones for water to run off that may get inside and they are hanging in maple trees and being enjoyed by our feathered friends. Plant in a hill of 3-5 seeds, and train them to hang over a fence if possible, if not possible, be sure to lay hay under them so they dont rot.
