Schmetz brand Sewing Machine Needles(LOT2)

Please pardon my stupidity, but I'm possibly interested in these as a surprise for my wife, so are these just normal needles for a ordinary, regular sewing machine? Are they heavy duty?

Not stupid at all..needle types can be very confusing.As far as I know,and I own 6 different machines,these fit all sewing machines.(Take her needle out and see if its flat on one side at the top..this will give you an idea what type it takes..sometimes there is a name/size printed right on it,you could go by that) so far as I know tho,and I've sewn for 35 years,these fit all..Schmetz are considered some of the BEST brand of needles out there,..they are heavy duty.The different types do different things..the quilting,and universal are good grade,multi purpose needles.The ball point needles are more for jersey or stretchy fabrics.Hope this helps..If I can be of any further assistance,please let me know.No question is a dumb question,and as for me,the best way to my heart is thru my sewing goodies,so I'm sure she'd be thrilled~:)HAPPY BIDDING!
