There is a lightning connector on top for your iPhone 5 and a USB connector on back for other devices. Whatever devices you have a USB cable for. It plugs in for power but also has an AA compartment for two batteries for settings and time backup. I hope I answered your question and then some...

It has a lightning connector on top, if you have an adapter it will work for the wide connector but you have to use an adapter. I always used my iPhone 5 in the lightning pin and the USB for my iPad. I'll check then let you know.
