There is also a free play mode.
Tone button, and chord button.
requires 2 AAA batteries (not included)
New in box. However, Box as you can see from the picture has a small hole in the plastic. I think maybe because someone in the store may have been trying it out but didn't realize that it doesn't come with batteries.

I realize that I probably should test this out to make sure that it works properly. I wouldn't want someone to get it and then have it not work and be disappointed. I put batteries in and all is in great working order. However, I am sorry, but the batteries are still not included.

is there a place to put a guitar strap on it?

Great question. I think a guitar strap would be too big for it, but it does come with a lanyard to wear around your wrist.
