Description
The listing, SPACE! 1962 America's First Man In Orbit & Aurora 7 rpm Records has ended.
My inner space geek is showing. As a child, I couldn't get enough of this stuff. These probably won't play [see the photos, the records are damaged] but as a novelty item, you can't beat the price, and I can't bring myself to toss them. For a conversation piece or to add to a collection -- they would be awesome.
Questions & Comments
These are very cool. My daddy was on the USS Hornet that recovered the space capsule with the astronauts. He was the first person to speak to the astronauts when they returned. He was an electrician that had to hook up the communications device while they were still in quarantine and test it before handing it over to President Nixon. Over the years, he was invited to many NASA sponsored events, along with his twin brother who was also on the ship at that time. It was the year before I was born, but I have always been fascinated by it all ever since I could remember. My family has some old 8mm movies that my daddy and uncle took during this time and some from serving on ship during the Vietnam war that probably no one has ever seen except our family. I always thought it was pretty cool for my daddy to be a part of history even though it was a small part. These RPMs are awesome. I so wish I could get these, but my credits are already tied up in other auctions. Good luck and F&W.
