The listing, Uncle David's Dakota Dessert Squash has ended.
Gotta try this one!
"Sweet enough to make a pie without adding sugar. But not just sweet. It has an intense complex true squash flavor. " (sez one source)
"An excellent producer of sweet, flavorful, squash that keep well into the winter" (sez another)
Here's what the seed supplier has to say about it:
"It has been in the Podoll family for 70 years. They’ve been selecting it for 40 years, crossing it with hubbards and other maximas, primarily for color, taste, sweetness, and vigor and hardiness in cold weather, but also for thick flesh, small seed cavities and higher productivity. The Podoll family bake it into pies without using any other sweetener. Also a versatile main-dish squash, with all the character that makes buttercup a New England favorite. And it is one rugged buttercup, withstanding several cold summers and all those temperature extremes in recent seasons."
95 days Open-pollinated - which means that you can save the seeds and expect the same squash next year (as long as you don't let it cross with other c. maximas in your garden)
I've been reading about this squash for months, and finally broke down and ordered a packet - and they sent me lots, so a few lucky bidders out there will get to try it too!
This auction is for 6 seeds - happy bidding!
