Description

The listing, 20 Masoor Lentil Seeds - Pretty Orange Delicious Lentil has ended.

This is my most favorite lentil, I love its bright orange color, its appetizing flavor in soups, and its quick cooking ability when compared to other lentils.

With about 30% of their calories from protein, lentils have the third-highest level of protein, by weight, of any legume or nut, after soybeans and hemp. Proteins include the essential amino acids isoleucine and lysine, and lentils are an essential source of inexpensive protein in many parts of the world, especially in West Asia and the Indian subcontinent, which have large vegetarian populations. Lentils are deficient in two essential amino acids, methionine and cysteine. However, sprouted lentils contain sufficient levels of all essential amino acids, including methionine and cysteine.

Lentils also contain dietary fiber, folate, vitamin B1, and minerals. Health magazine has selected lentils as one of the five healthiest foods. Lentils are often mixed with grains, such as rice or small pasta, which results in a complete protein dish.

Lentils are a good source of iron, having over half of a person's daily iron allowance in a 100g serving.

Dried lentils can also be sprouted by soaking in water for one day and keeping moist for several days.

I will send the seeds once the payment is made and the Listia verified address is sent.

Good luck bidding.

This dal is quite distinctive in taste.

Onion - 1 chopped fine
Tomato - 1 chopped fine
Garlic - 2-3 cloves
Ginger - 1/4 inch chopped fine
Coriander pwdr - 1 tsp
Cumin pwdr - 1 tsp
Tumeric pwdr - 1/2 tsp
Garam Masala - 1 tsp (optional)

Method:
Heat 2 tsp ghee/oil into a pan. Add mustard seeds, cumin seeds and a little turmeric. Add onions, tomatoes and keep stirring till cooked. Add the boiled/mashed dal. Add a little coriander powder, cumin powder and salt and mix well. If you want you can also add a pinch of garam masala.

Let it stay on the heat for about 5 mins till all the ingredients are mixed well.

Have with hot steamed rice or and indian bread.

Because I don't feel that coriander goes well with dhal curry. Atleast I have never seen my mom add that. If you add some fresh curry leaves while seasoning with cumin and mustard seeds, it will add an authentic flavor to the curry.
