Description
The listing, 2 large 1843 shakespeare Caesar Steel engravings from the Charles Knight collection has ended.
I got both of these on listia from a true gentleman, I won many of his steel engravings and I have decided to let these 2 go so I may bid on more art. Both are from the 1843 Charles Knight collection purchased in England in the 1970s by the man I got these from. "The death of Caesar" and "Olivia" both have a trim area of 8x10. These look fantastic matted and framed by the way.
Questions & Comments
I'm a dummy. What exactly do you mean by 'steel engravings'?
It's a technique of printing illustrations based on steel instead of copper. The process dates back to 1792. Simply it is the way it's printed. Thank you.
