This is a very pretty vintage cameo pin/pendant. There is a movable hook on the top of the cameo that would easily work for a chain.
The cameo measures 11/2x1/4 inches. It opens for photos or has a well that is deep enough to be used as a pill carrier. It is appx. 1/4 inch thick.
This is a very functional cameo. I have never seen another like it. It is in perfect condition.

It looks like there may be a patent number or hallmark on the clasp. I was squinting trying to see. If there is, can you please give that to me? Patents sometimes help date a brooch, locket, etc. also they give you a name.

I see the area you are talking about. Even with a loupe I can't tell what it is. In some ways it looks like it might be a hallmark and others it might be a defect.
Sorry I can't be more help. If I had to guess the age I would say the 50's to the 60's.
Again, that is a guess.
