Description

The listing, Live Venus Fly Trap (Dionaea Muscipula) Carnivorous Bug Eating Plant + FREE FAST SHIPPING! has ended.

PLEASE READ ENTIRE DESCRIPTION!

**Please note that the last 4 pictures are NOT of the plant you will be receiving. These pics are of a 4 year old plant I have been growing. These pics are to demonstrate the size they can grow to & the size of some of the bugs they can catch & eat.**

The plant you will be receiving is a live 2 year old Venus Fly Trap that I have grown from seed. It takes about 2-3 years for the plants to get to adult size from seed. This is the exact plant that you will be receiving in the pictures (except the last 4 pictures). Detailed care instructions will be included. These plants are very fascinating & relatively easy to grow. One plant will grow into many over the years & will last a lifetime if not neglected.

I will ship these already potted in a 3" plastic pot. I will change the soil to sphagnum moss so it won't get messy during shipment. They grow very well in sphagnum moss so you won't have to worry about changing the soil for at least another year or 2. I will include everything you need to get started with. You just need to care for it.

If you have any questions then please ask and I will answer as soon as possible. I have many more carnivorous plants & may list some different species depending on how this auction goes! SO BID BID!

I purchased an adult plant and it made its own seeds. Also, the plant divides into separate plants every year & you can split them up into different pots as well.

Will these adapt well to a terrarium environment? I've heard conflicting opinions? Thank you.

These plants will do fine in a terrarium or open environment. But in a terrarium you have to be more careful on not over-watering unless you have some sort of drainage system. I have grown them in both environments but prefer the open since it is much easier. And these plants need plenty of light, artificial or sunlight, both work very well. These plants also will need to go through a dormancy every winter that lasts until Spring.

Does this plant need to be dormant if by the beach in warm climate all year? And what do you mean by dormant? I don't garden much! Thanks!
Jul 1st, 2014 at 9:51:59 PM PDT by

Dormant is a period of about 3-4 months during the winter that the plant is "sleeping", kinda like hibernation for animals, it needs to go dormant to be healthy & grow vigorously the following Spring when it "wakes up". You can skip dormancy but it won't be as healthy & could eventually kill the plant if you skip it year after year. They only grow in North & South Carolina, so if you live around that area you can leave them outside year round. If your winters are warm, you can use the refrigerator method, stick them in the fridge for 3 months, take them out & they will start growing again. These plants are really neat.
