Datura metel
Datura 'Purple and or White Ballerina also known as "angel's trumpet" is a marvelously fragrant flowering herb with upward-facing blooms that resemble a dancer's costume.
These compact plants are perfect for containers or as a scene-stealer in the garden. Flowers open in the evening and close again in the morning. Beginning in early summer and continuing until the fall weather sets in, the plant is covered with magnificent blooms, so fragrant that a single plant perfumes the garden!
Large, very attractive fruits follow the blooms and should be cut for splendid accents to fresh and dried arrangements.

Considered one of the top traditional herbs used in Chinese medicine, this variety of Datura is very similar to the 'Evening Fragrance' variety both in habit and characteristics, as both types of the plant induce sever hallucinogenic episodes.
Though highly poisonous because of the high levels of tropane alkaloids within the plant, 'Purple Ballerina''s dark violet blooms can be dried and smoked as an herbal medicinal treatment for asthma.
Dosages vary and can result in flushed skin, headaches, delirium, convulsions, coma and death.

A beautiful aromatic addition to any night garden, this nocturnal beauty is a must have for its showy blooms!

*Warning Trumpet Plants are poisonous...be careful with pets and children and can be toxic handling all parts.

I used dawn and water. Wiggling lines on the leaf. Then the leaf is chewed on. I don't see the worm. Also chewing on hollyhocks too.

Buy some insecticidal soap...it's more natural than insecticides and stronger than the dawn
