I don't think there's much padding in this top At all! I've seen some 2" thick! I guess it would help the appearance of your breasts while sun bathing or just wearing it. But having padding- no matter the thickness, is not going to "sink" you into the bottoms of the ocean like a anchor. Lol! And it won't leave you helplessly floating away with the current- they aren't flotation devices. And I'm pretty sure, sharks don't like the dull taste of bra padding--so your safe there! (Whew!) haha.
Ok I'm not being a butt head, I'm being sarcastic, :) but to answer you very strange, unique question- you have nothing to be concerned about. Padding won't affect you in the ocean. (Though I think jelly fish are attracted to underwire, so you have to be very careful there! )

Do you mind if I ask you where you got this so I can try n look up a sizing chart? Bottoms like that can be tied to fit almost any size but, with that much padding, the top is only going to accommodate one size... and could someone PLEASE tell me what happens when you get in ocean that heavily padded? Or is this kind more for looks than for actually swimming?
