Questions & Comments

Good call with an Oscars one around the Oscars. Also leaves time to get codes together for that. Could always just pick an awesome quote and base an auction off of that. "Say hello to my little auction" or something like that for a gangster one for example

I love it! It has got to be that name or "I'll make him an ultraviolet auction he can't refuse".

You have just been upgraded to 5 digits... :)
I'm surprised your not at 50 watchers at least by now...
People need to Fan and Watch before they leave your auction!

If you watch the documentary, you'll find out reasons it didn't get made. Jodorowsky was a passionate artistic madman back in that time - he had 2 really amazing works for art under his belt (El Topo and the Holy Mountain --- I'm not counting Fando Y Lis just because it wasn't widely seen at that time). He had a crazy vision for science fiction. This was before Star Wars (one of my personal favorites of all time). The talent that was involved was just staggering. The awesome thing is that you can see that most of them went to do things that they learned from this experience.

It was really good.

I'm really glad you liked it. I would be happy to see an animated storyboard of his version of his Dune. Even though it varied from the source material, I'd like to think it would have changed the landscape of science fiction. I had her Herbert had no ill will toward Jodorowsky's version as well.

I would love a copy of that production book they sent out to all the studios. Hopefully his vision will still get made it some form other then the comics, someday.

Did you get a chance to watch Jodorowky's Dune?
Jul 17th, 2014 at 12:54:48 PM PDT by

I did, it was great. I highly recommend it. It reminds me a lot of what almost happened to blade runner. From now on we all need to start using my auctions as a place to tell people about great movies that everyone should see but might not have heard about due to size or time it was made.

It just came out on Blu-Ray/DVD not too long ago. I think it'll be a while before Netflix or Amazon Prime gets it (if at all).

I will start looking out for it. It might be on vudu.

Room 237 - I saw this a while back. Some of the theories made me think...others were just so far out in left field. I guess we'll really never know. I'd say Kubrick's getting a laugh out of all of this...where ever he may be. If you want to see a film about one of the greatest films never made...check out Jodorowsky's Dune. The talent alone in that should speak volumes. For me, that was stuff of legend, and to see some of that come to life and HEAR Jodorowsky speak passionately about it (I am a huge fan of his films, but they are not for everyone) - It really makes me wonder what could have been, and what could be.

Yeah some of the theories were pretty crazy. I haven't seen it, but I will start looking for it. Any chance it's on netflix so I can be a cheapskate?

Nice idea!! simply I was thinking about golden hollywood classics. Following & already a fan.
Jul 15th, 2014 at 5:42:56 AM PDT by

The term classic still has to be used loosely based off of the small amount of movies from the era that have been released on ultraviolet. Already a fan as well.

A Clockwork Orange is one of my favorite films. I've seen it numerous times in the theater and own the Blu-Ray digibook. Great selection of films you have (especially all the Kubrick)!

You can never go wrong with Kubrick. A Clockwork Orange is great to watch in theaters. I wish we would have been able to see his version of A.I. it would have been a very different movie from the Spielberg version.

Ken; This is awesome, as it is you always have the best titles, this is great, I like the idea of a gangsters theme, with the Godfather,.Scarface. ect, Out of this group I would love to get my hands on Bull Durham, "The Rose faces the front Meat" lol

lol, great movie. I wish I could find Field of dreams for a sports auction. I think the gangster auction might be the next auction. But I am not sure yet.

Another terrific bash. Thanks for sharing these! Would love to see a collection of musicals as they seem to be hard to come by on ultraviolet. Unless you count Disney cartoons...but I don't...LOL
Jul 2nd, 2014 at 7:16:40 PM PDT by

I know, musicals almost never show up on ultraviolet. Wizard of Oz, Chicago and Singing in the Rain might be the only ones that have come up. Other then West Side Story which I just saw the other day.

That's a really good name too. There are quotes that can be morphed to fit any themed uv auction to make the auction more awesome

Agreed, how come I didn't think about that. A Clockwork Orange. "A Bit of the Ultraviolet". That would have been a no brainer.

Yeah I will just have to see what I come across then go from there. I really like the oscar idea but maybe that's something to plan for around the oscar's. Not sure yet.

Oscar nominees/winners are always good, not necessarily just for best picture but open up to basically anything that has been nominated. Could try for sports or musicals but not sure if there are enough codes for those movies. Westerns or crime or mob/gangster movies could be interesting. Have to check the date on it but I believe I have a code for No Country for Old Men that I'd be happy to donate if it's an auction it fits in.
