NO. DDR2 from a HP Pavilion 6730b laptop it is Socket P Please check compatibility before you bid.

If you are unsure, give me the make & model # & I can point you to the exact specifications of your motherboard as to whether or not it is...

How can you know if it is compatible or not without knowing the motherboard inside??? are you a joke or what!

Benjamin105 your ignorance just got you blocked! What do you mean make/model has nothing to do with compatibility???

This would be the perfect upgrade for my aging Acer 5315.

CORE2DUO CPU upgrades working with MANY other models from various manufacturers... the main limiting factor is going to be your laptop's BIOS and it's support for upgrade CPUS..

I have also Acer Aspire 5315 - the best processor is the Intel Core 2 Extreme X9100 or Intel Core 2 Duo T9500.

It depends on the chipset and the laptop contains Intel GM965 Express Chipset.

From what I've read, it should work on my model. I've got a T7300 in it at the moment.

I had 2 aspire 5315's Mine & my boo's , but both have a different chipset, 1 is the Intel 965 express chipset MOBO Rev 2.0 & it does infact work on it, but the other MOBO Rev 1.1 would not accept it when installed giving me "un-supported CPU installed" and even flashing BIOS it would not take it???

Now as for the Pavilions I've used these in I've had no issues at all on any socket P MOBO's... I've installed these in many systems, at 1 point we had a "Sled" full purchased on ebay & at the time was a superb CPU! Almost everyone we know at the time we replaced the stock cpu with them, I only had 4 laptops not take them willingly, a few needed flashed & most we did nothing to them but seated, paste, and burn-in time & a few friends are still using them!!! Since we installed max memory & a Solid State & they are faster than my new HP Pavilion TS 15 Notebook PC!!!

Did the Rev 2.0 board accept 4 Gb of RAM and the Rev 1.1 board only accept 3 Gb or was it 3 Gb and 2 Gb respectively?
Jul 11th, 2014 at 4:13:44 AM PDT by

The Rev.1 did only take 2GB(2x1GB 533Mhz) but the 2.0 we had put only 3GB(1x 2GB 533Mhz & 1GB) never tried the 2x2GB at the time? I've seen forums stating it would do 4GB, some saying that they OC the ram to PC-6400 instead???

I don't do much overclocking unless on a PC built tough with water cooling like my son's desktop, It's a beast! He does a lot of gaming...

That means I have a 2.0 board as mine accepts 3 Gb, but 4 Gb is unstable. The boards that accept 4 Gb have a particular chip installed whereas the 3Gb boards is allowed due to a chip that is flawed and accepts a 2Gb DIMM even when it is only supposed to accept 1 Gb.

Huh? I love how they change things over & over on boards! Makes compatibility issues arise way too much. What works on 1 system will not always work on a very similar system due to a single difference in manufacturing!
If they would do more development research before just throwing it out on the market this might not happen so much! Get it right the 1st time & be done with it!

I'm sure it was more cost savings from different suppliers at the time of manufacturing as this unit has 3 major model types as well as a plethora of sub models. Two of the model types were lower end even at that time. But they are still very rare for their upgradability compared to the average laptop with difficult to access components and whitelists.

If you want to see difficulty in accessibility for upgrade, look at some of these newer laptops!!!!

I had a friend bring me one to upgrade the RAM in & there is NO access port or even a single screw to open the case! It required specialty tools to crack it open & the fasteners inside were very unique as well, I had to make my own bit to remove parts of it!!!

Sounds like the upgrade I did on a sisters Acer netbook. Not designed for user upgrades at all. And your right that the newer ones are even more inaccessible.

You aint kidding man! what should be a 5-10 Min. job takes for ever anymore! But that's what they intended to do! Keep owners from upgrading so they take it in for upgrades or just purchase a new unit!

That's why I have a new flagship phone, but a 2008 era laptop and 2006 era desktop.

LOL! you aint the only one! I actually like my AM7 system desktop & do not intend to go newer for as long as I can! & as for the laptop this CPU was in I wouldn't have done away with it if it wasn't for the fact my friends pot bellied pig ran over it destroying the screen! I had it hooked up to an external display for months but had other uses for the display & could no longer keep it hooked to the Pavilion...
