GREAT CONDITION!! GREAT MOVIE!! Ben Campbell is a brilliant student at MIT. His best (only) chance is to get the Robinson Scholarship; a free ride. The problem; there are 67 other applicants who have just as impressive a background. Last year it went to a Korean immigrant with one leg. When Ben points out, “I have both my legs.” The interviewer says “Have you considered cutting one of them off?” It was a joke, but, the lesson here is he MUST dazzle on the essay.

The problem is, he is already living close to the bone. His time is absorbed with study. He has a job at a men’s clothing store, where he is promoted to assistant manager. That hardly seems that it will dazzle. And what he does for “fun” is help his friends on a robotics competition. Ben has a head for numbers. It shows in his nonlinear mathematics class, and his professor Dr. Rosa proposes something different. He wants Ben to join his little band of card counters.
