Well, American eagle always fit they way I expect. I've never had to try their jeans or shorts on after buying my first pair, because they always fit perfect. However I don't wear a 12, I bought these off a friend because I like my shorts a little bigger than my actual size. But with any American eagle, even when I bought my actual size, they fit like a dream. Lol
