1971 Apollo 15 Launch to Splashdown (4 cancels) space cover in 4-Page Presentation Folder (#74 in a series).
Apollo 15 was launched from Cape Canaveral, FL on 26 July 1971 with a crew of 3 (Scott, Irwin & Worden). This was the 4th Apollo moon landing mission.
The following items are featured in the 4-page folder:
Page 1 shows a print of the official NASA Apollo 15 mission emblem.
A print of the crew of 3 Apollo 15 astronauts (Scott, Irwin & Worden) is shown on Page 2.
The Apollo 15 Launch to Splashdown space cover is mounted on page 3. This space cover is very rare. It features 4 cancels for launch, lunar landing, lunar liftoff and splashdown. The cancels are from Goddard Space Flight Center, Greenbelt, Maryland, which tracks the lunar missions. The cover features the official GSFC cachet and it is signed by the GSFC Director John F. Clark The back of the cover features an Apollo cachet.
Page 4 features a print of the US 8c Decade of Achievement stamp featuring Apollo 15 astronauts Scott (Mission Commander - red stripes on space suit) and Irwin.
All 3 photos in the card-stock folder are actually printed on the folder.
This is #74 in a series of space-related presentation folders and space covers. This is a new way of collecting space covers, first day covers. and other memorabilia. The folder was not officially prepared by NASA or the USPS.
