I think the markings might actually say K.I.S. which might mean it's from Kristiansand, the town my mother is from. Or it could be the silversmith's initials. Do you have any idea how old this is??

I think your right about the K.I.S. It came from a estate sale . Most of the
people around here are old rich retired people and most of the men had been in the service. I live in the Ozarks lots of retired people.

Very nice! fanned you. So is this over 100 years old? Being antique it must be or they consider it vintage. I know growing up they used to call antique anything made from the 1920s and on. I call it antique too. It is lovely!!!

Thank you for the info. It would be nice if Listia would put a vintage area
in the list . A lot of us use antique for vintage because we have nothing else to use. I did do some checking on it and found
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Antique-Norway-Silver-KJS-830S-Gold-Wash-Filigree-2-3-4-SOLJE-Pin-Brooch-/201004598380 this one just has a few more spoons than mine but made from a different person .

I am a retired jeweler and I have no idea what the numbers 480 mean? Also the magnet test is pretty useless for there are base metals out there that have no magnification to it. Just an FYI for you.

F/B Looking at the clasp, pin, and hinge is the easiest and most accurate way to date a brooch.Around the of the turn of the century, hinges became smaller and more rounded. Brooches with a c-clasp and small hinge (not tube hinge) usually date around the late 1800s-1900.
