You did not mention that rose of sharon is one of the top hummingbird attractors=)
It may be a different vartiety, but here they sevive -0 & +100 degrees!!

yes that is true! Rose of Sharon grows between 8 and 12 feet tall and up to 10 feet wide and generally blooms in mid to late summer. The plump buds open in succession over a period of weeks, but each individual flower only lasts about a day. Roses of Sharon shrubs bloom once during the growing season.

Once mine starts blooming it continues until frost, but I do deadhead.
