The listing, OMG! SO Beautiful Yellow Flowering Tree seeds (25) FREE SHIPPING has ended.
Tabebuia caraiba, Yellow Tabebuia, it a small tree for zone 10. A super bloomer flowering intensely in spring. Seriously famous especially in Fort Myers. Handles dry periods well and is exceptionally beautiful if left with no added irrigation in winter and spring.
Tabebuia caraiba, Yellow Tabebuia, is a wonderful small tree from Brazil and is related to the Flame vine and Jacaranda tree
This Tabebuia is one over 100 species with blooms starting near the first day of spring in South Florida. Its masses of yellow trumpet flowers catch everyone's eye in season.
The foliage is mostly deciduous. Some trees lose 100% of their leaves prior to blooming (best) while others can hold some of their old leaves while in flower
One good "trick" is to cut off all added water 6-8 weeks before spring. This will encourage leaf drop and produce a much heavier show of flowers. All Tabebuias in irrigated landscapes are poorer bloomers due to this excess water. The tree in this photo never gets more than rainwater.
The trunk and wood of the Tabebuia is also very interesting to see. This variety has brittle wood that breaks in strong winds, but the tree always comes back. Newly planted large field grown trees take several years to stabilize root strength, so strong storms can easily topple large, newly planted trees. Stand them up immediately
Use this tree for small spaces, in full sun, on well drained soil. The tree has no pests
It is a very hard wood and makes really beautiful cabinets. It also offers protection against termites."
I have gathered these seeds from a tree in my yard, put some in some potting soil and others in water - and both sets have germinated in a matter of days.
This auction is for 25 of these seeds which will be more than enough to brighten up your landscape and make your neighbors jealous!
