The listing, (2) dog tail cactus starts (pitaya de tortuga, selenicereus testudo), unique square cactus starts has ended.

The dog tail cactus is a type of plant that is also sometimes called Pitaya de Tortuga. Its scientific name is Selenicereus testudo. The plant consists of several thick stalks that taper at the ends to resemble a dog's tail. These stalks have many spines on them and they can grow up to 10 inches tall. White flowers bloom on the dog tail cactus from mid summer to the early fall. Like many other cacti, the plant is simple to care for.

You will be receiving the two starts in picture 2. Picture 1 is an example of what the plant will look like once it grows. They will be sent in the container they are in, and padded to make a safe trip to your home. At this point they are about 4" in length.

What a beautiful cactus! Is it the same as what they call a Rat Tail Cactus?

Thank you, no, it is a little bit different, the cactus "arms" are more square in shape than the rat-tail cactus. It does form offshoots much like the rat-tail cactus does.

Good Luck! I bet it would do really well there. We are having hot weather here in Oregon and the dog tail cactus loves it, it has shot out a couple new little legs. I added another little start since the bid is so high, I will post pictures in a few minutes.
