The listing, 1917 silverplate tip dish, the Commodore Hotel has ended.
This was made by Gorham as was all the hotel ware for the Commodore..the famous Commodore Hotel opened in Manhattan in 1919 after some delays, but all their hotel ware was ordered and produced in 1917... The hotel was purchased by Donald Trump in 1980 and is now the Grand Hyatt.The shell shaped dish was either used for tips or change out of a gentlemans pocket at the end of the day...the silver plate has it's years of gray patina...it's about 5 1/2 ins in length...has the C crest on the handle....very cool piece of the hotels long history
