The listing, Two Different Japanese Chokin Style Collector Plates-24k Gold Trim has ended.

Here are two different plates designed in the ancient art of Japanese chokin. This is a specific art which dates back to the 12th century and was started by Samurai Warriors. Both plates are rimmed in 24k gold and have copper and silver accents. These are so amazingly detailed and beautiful! The art features birds on a branch (perhaps plum or cherry blossoms) etched in various metallic tones. Both plates are in very good condition (no chips, cracks, crazing, just a bit of normal age wear from storage).

The black edged plate is made by Dynasty, it measures 5" in diameter, the white edged is mae by LAL, has a gold sticker which no longer has any legible printing on it (if there ever was any) and measures 6" in diameter.

Put these out at your next Sushi party with some dragon rolls and hot saki and impress your guests (promise you'll invite me) - read some haikus from Basho, and you truly will have an enchanted evening!

Yes, I think Dynasty and LAL are the companies or distributors. I have to confess I'm not really very knowledgeable about this chokin art but just reading the back of that one plate has me interested - and it really is fascinating :-)

I'm sorry, just the plates :-) on this auction. That stand belongs to my husband, I think he uses it for a photo in his music room (surprised he hasn't missed it yet - tee hee :) Giving you a fan!!!
