Description

The listing, Chinese Jade Foo Dog Dragon Stamp has ended.

I got this at auction in a box lot. I have no idea how old it is. I believe it's Nephrite Jade as it can be scratched. It has a foo dog, dragon on the front with what i'm assuming are Chinese characters on the bottom. It's about 2 inches square and weighs over 2.5 ounces
Shipped anywhere USA with tracking.

Do you know any of the meaning of the characters or the significance of the piece?

Probably a name, or something to signify a particular house, that's just an assumption.

I've ran into a few of these just this yr. Never seen them before that though, the lady whom had one up for bid received a ton of credits, I went really high then was outbid :( I'm watching. Do you know any history behind this at all? Were they currency or I don't know :) let me know if you know. Good luck. Nikki

It looks more like Pi Yao, a figure or token used as a cure in Feng Shui to ward off evil spirits. Very potent! May also be used to attract wealth. Take my words with a little caution - I got my information mostly from Wikipedia. =)

Pi Yao, seem to be small statuesque figures mostly sold in pairs, and generally don't contain any writing.
