The back side has elastic so does have a little bit of stretch to get over your hips.
There is also a small pearlescent button where the mock wrap appears to come together. This button is only intended as a decoration and does not actually work.

I have hand washed this once myself w/ Arm & Hammer Laundry detergent in my kitchen sink and hung it up to dry per the washing instructions.
