Description

The listing, Wild Maine Lupine Seeds, Multicolor, 6 Pods Full of Seeds has ended.

Here on the coast of Maine it is known for the lovely June show of lupines overlooking the ocean. They are everywhere and I take pictures of them every year. Pictured are the exact seed pods you are bidding on - 6 of them, plus a 7th that I opened to show an average number of seeds inside, and also that these were matured naturally (not picked green) and ready for sowing!
The pods have a gray soft fuzz over a hard shell, and about a month after flowering, usually late July (up here in Maine), the seed pods go from green to dark gray as they dry out, and once completely dried, the pods burst open and spray the seeds everywhere. This is a revered time among Mainers, and no field clearing is to be done while the lupines are seeding, which lasts from late July into August.
I picked these pods yesterday. I can pick as many more as needed, if there is want for them - open to a low GIN as well!
These are hardy plants, and they grow fast. Planting time for the seeds is late summer and early fall, and you can plant them right away, or wait til next year, just keep them dry.

They enjoy partial shade but prefer full sun.

Yes, naturally. It's actually an environmental process that determines the flower color on these; and therefore somewhat random. One year they could all be blue, the next you might have pink, white, blue/white, or even orange!

Thanks. My kids will love seeing the full process from pod to sowing to nature's random color choice bloom in their garden!
