Barbie joins up with six of her friends to play nine mini-games, including classics like checkers and tic-tac-toe, as well as "groovy" takes on concentration, matching, arcade shooting, and word games. Playing solo or with two people on the same machine, players can select Becky, Christie, Kayla, Ken, Lea, or Teresa in addition to the titled hostess.
Featuring three levels of difficulty, games are played in a variety of locales, ranging from the beach, hair salon, and ice-cream parlor to a dance studio, record shop, and jewelry store. Play word games at the toy store (guess letters of a secret word), create the longest conga line at the dance studio, or go for 10,000 points by matching the dance beat at the disco. Other activities include matching gems and jewels in rows of four horizontally, vertically or diagonally, shooting bubbles, stacking scoops of ice cream, and matching CDs to their cases.
