Can't really make it out either looks like there is a date of maybe 1947 or something like that and maybe A1 or something like that its hard to tell hope you win it

Would you look at it with a magnifying glass so you could tell us what it says. Or if you clean it up with some silver cleaner, you may be able to read marks easily.

My mother in law puts foil paper in her sink with borax and water and the silverware become shiny with little scrubing

I'd leave it just the way it is ......let the person who win it clean it most people ..don't like old stuff like this cleaned ....just in case its silver .....sorry hope u don't think im being rude ....just trying to help
