I have this same Phone, mine is with Virgin though.. Also Rooted. Rooting a phone gives you superuser access, your able to have full access to the phone that most times cell companys will change or whatever, It basicly makes you the administrator of the phone. Depending on if he has the Bootloader unlocked or locked and depending on if it is a version lower than the recent 1.58.0000 you can change Roms in it and completly change the inside working of the phone and make it as if it is another version.. As he said Rooting a phone also Unlocks Tethering which most all companys charge a fee to use.. Tethering is using your cell phones data/internet as a wireles wifi so if you are out with your laptop and have your phone, turn on tehtering and you can use the phones internet to pick up service on the Laptop.. Its a Awesome Phone IMO! Its been out a little while but its for sure a great smart phone. You couldn't be more right though man about how fast the battery drains, mine is the same way. There is a APP u can download for rooted phones that helps the battery life a little..Its for sure worth picking up! I got a Brand new one on here for about the same Gin price.. If any of you know about jail breaking apple i phones? then its about the same thing , only its called rooting(rooted) for androids.. Hope you didnt mind me commenting on your auction Daytrader, I just wanted to back up that this is a great Phone..

I'm not sure what rooted means. Is it a normal Sprint Contract Carrier phone? Does it always have to be tethered or if one has a contract with Sprint it will operate off the 4g towers?
