Description

The listing, The worlds ugliest natural Rubies and Sapphires has ended.

Those of you who have followed my auctions, may know that I am an information sponge.
Before I listed the diamonds and rubies earlier, I had no idea what I was doing; well, after much research, I have come to the conclusion that these are the ugliest corundrum that Mother Nature has ever produced (ugly Rubies, Sapphires not so bad)...almost as if she were taunting me.
It is a total of 150ct.+ of natural nature made Ruby and Sapphire. These are much, much larger than the first auction for the pigeon bloods, and have several inclusions as well, only these Rubies have carbon deposits out the wazoo. carbon deposits are formed in nearly all precious gems, and it takes a laser or heat treatment to remove them. Heat treating will also make them less inclusioned (opaque), but must be done at 3500 degrees F for several hours. I have also been given contradicting responses in regards to heat treating Sapphires; some tell me it's bad, and others tell me the people who say it's bad are retards (excuse my French). But if you're a collector of rough natural precious stones or want to heat these to Hades, then heres your auction..150cts.

The first two pics are without light, and the second two pics are under a flash. The last two pics are of..I have no idea, some mystery thing. Can anyone identify it? I thought it was a pearl, but it's flat on the bottom.

Since I already lectured you on the geneology of these last week, I will spare you of the migraine this time..you're welcome, lol.

two tiny holes in the mystery object tend to make me think that it is a cultured pearl where they stick a bead of any shape into the oyster....I don't know just a stab in the dark here.

That's probably what it is. It's gritty on my teeth, but it almost looks like you can see a blob of mercury in the center when you stare at it, or a ball bearing. I have no idea, I'll let the winner decide, but it's not being listed as a pearl, or even anything for that matter. But, it was locked in the safe...but why?

It certainly looks like a pearl; perhaps it's manmade?

It could be. I ran it accross my teeth, and it was rough...and bitter.

Pearls can be most any shape. Flat bottomed pearls are popularly used in rings or earrings or drilled as beads.

It has some very tiny holes on each end, and some sort of circle right in the middle of the bottom.

Here's a little insight on the vampyre origin:

The vampyre legend originated in early Christianity when the Latin and Greek churches divided. The idea became prevalent that a Latin body buried in Greek church grounds would not decompose. Over time, this was embellished to include rising from the dead and feasting on the young and beautiful. It was deemed that victims became emaciated, speedily died of consumption and then transformed into blood sucking vampyres themselves.

It wasnt until Bram Stroker wrote the Dracula novel and misspelled it vampire with an i that it was commonly spelled wrongly. The word vampyre is actually from the Greek word vrykolakas, which in Greek only has one meaning..Vampyre. In English, it is the only word that is made up from two of the oldest know spoken languages; ancient Greek and Latin: In ancient Latin (not modern) Levam(vam) means to rise or be refreshed, and in ancient Greek Pyra or Pyr(pyre) translates to from fire, so we get "To rise from fire" (also known as a funeral pyre).

Sapphires were also believed to be the vampyre's source of power, and in that time were treasured as magical orbs that could bestow immortallity among the living. There may have also been a belief that burying someone with Sapphires in fertile Earth would bring them back to life, as a vampyre? Bats were never in the equation at all.

It's like one of those really ugly cat's the Egyptians worshipped. Today, they cost ten times more than a pretty cat, so these being the fugliest rubies on the face of the earth should be priceless.

Thank you my sleepless friend for the information.

I was wondering if you could please answer a question for me, since I have not found "Help" on this site. I have listed a couple of items and they started at "0". I'm not to happy that someone is going to walk away with swarovski and sterling silver earrings for 1 point. I would like to list some other items, but cannot have they start at '0". I see that many auctions start at "100" points.

Can you please tell me how to access that option. It would be much appreciated. Thank you.

You would get much more bids if you verify your phone number, and credit card (it costs $1.00).
The earrings alone should end with at least 30,000 credits, they're very nice, but people have been scammed a lot by unverified sellers.

yes - frenzy seems to be the title of my life.

Thanks for looking at my earrings, and liking them....gosh, I had no idea that they could go for so much.

I design and create jewelry and thought it would be fun to list some things here to see what happens. I'm about to list a Malachite and sterling silver pendent. I did go through the process of getting my phone number verified..Guess I'll have to do it again. Thanks muchly for your help.

I do remember that you were willing to ship to Canada on your diamond and sapphire auction but I didn't have enough credits to win that one and I don't want to just assume that you would ship these to Canada too. =)
Jun 5th, 2011 at 4:16:50 PM PDT by

When you assume, you make an "ass" out of "u" and "me", lol, jk. I'll send these ugly mothers to Canada, but if you want tracking, you have to wait for me to get to the Fedex shipper in Buckeye 60 miles away. I'll ship USPS without tracking free, since it's actually 30 cents cheaper than shipping in the states.

I'm fanning you for your description alone, lol. The darker stones remind me of beetles, so they are kind of neat. Did you find these from a locked chest in a cave or dungeon? hehe If I had them that's what I'd say

No dungeons on this auction. These were given to me by an acquaintance under the guise that "they are beautiful", lol.

Oh I see you have the ugly rubies and sapphires on here. lol. I don't consider any ugly as they were created individually and under very extreme conditions. Anyway, when I go dig topaz, sapphire, Emeralds, which you can do in the US, they mostly are ugly, but I love them. At least these are ready to do something with them. If someone wire wraps they would be beautiful. I'll have to watch, but I don't do any jewelry anymore, and have gotten rid of all my tools. Now I just add to my collection, which I am already downsizing. Given my grandsons plenty of my collection and they are interested. Best of luck anyway. You always have great things on here.

i love "ugly" stones. i think they are more beautiful than ones that have been cut and treated. do u know how many carats of diamond are thrown away each year after they are cut to fit in rings and b beautiful? a lot more than u think. i make necklaces out of raw pearls. i buy the pearls for less than $10 and sell them for $50. seen them in monterey for like $200
