Do you want to grow your own cherry tree ?
You can!
Overview
Cherry trees are fruit-producing trees that are believed to have originated in Asia Minor somewhere in the vicinity between the Caspian and Black Sea. The trees can grow as tall as 50 feet so pruning them in the fall is recomended. They are hardy in the USDA Zones 5 to 8.
Cherry trees produce attractive blossoms and bear delicious fruit. With many different varieties, cherries fall into two distinctive groups: the sour cherry, which is good for baking and cooking; and the sweet cherry, which is ideal for eating raw. You can grow a cherry tree from the seed or pit inside, but it will be years before the tree is mature enough to bear fruit. Also, most cherry trees are grafted onto a stronger root stalk or are hybrid. Because of this, the cherry tree you grow from a seed may not have the exact same type of fruit as the original seed.
Please follow the directions I include, and you too can have cherries in the years to come!
Ok to have good chance to get your trees growing well:
The seeds you will get have been removed from the pit, (wooden shell that the seeds are encased in). The pit is to protect the seeds from winter and insects etc. Now these seeds need a cold time to rest. What you need do is place these fresh seeds in wetted paper towel with 2 layers top and bottom. Place that into a ziplock bag and close it, then put this into your refrigerator for 1 month.
This will signal the seeds biological clock that it has been winter. You can then take these seeds and start them in a 1 gallon container ( 3 seeds per to get a better chance of a strong tree ). Let them grow like a normal house plant in the container till they are about 1 foot or so tall.
