What kind of metal is the ring? I'm pregnant and looking for a replacement wedding ring bc mine doesn't fit right now and I don't want to pay an arm and a leg for a temporary replacement. This ring is beautiful.

Thank you. Hope this helps.HGE stands for Heavy Gold Electroplate. If you see low priced large gold colored rings, there is a potential the ring has HGE stamped inside the ring, telling you is has HEAVY GOLD ELECTROPLATE on it.
HGE is typically a brighter gold color than 14K gold is.

HGE is similar to "gold plated". In both cases the inside of the ring is usually base metal of no value. The gold layer at the surface is very thin, eg not much gold there

Yes that helps a lot. So with it being HGE will it turn skin green?

Depends on the metal under the gold plate, veronese is gold plated jewelry over silver, so wont turn fingers green, but gold over brass, copper etc will turn you fingers green once the gold has worn down. I don't know what is under the gold in this ring.

Someone suggest that I try the magnet test. I tried it and for all its worth, the magnet **DID NOT** stick to the ring in any way. I used a very, very strong magnet.

That would suggest that it is silver under the gold plate. Which means NO it wont turn your finger green necessarily. You may have discoloring of Black marks but nothing that dipping or clear finger nail polish or proper care wont handle. No wearing while doing dishes, in shower...polish after wearing...things of that nature. Seems to me you have a High quality piece here. F&W ~Gray~
