Sea glass and beach glass are similar but come from two different types of water. "Sea glass" is physically and chemically weathered glass found on beaches along bodies of salt water. These weathering processes produce natural frosted glass. "Genuine sea glass" can be collected as a hobby and can be used to make jewelry. "Beach glass" comes from fresh water and in most cases has a different ph balance, and has a less frosted appearance than Sea glass. It is often used to make jewelry.

The History:

I lived in Redondo Beach California about 18 years ago and a friend of mine asked me if I had ever hunted for beach glass. I had no idea what she was talking about. She took me to a beach close by. Now I can't remember exactly what beach. It could of been Hermosa Beach area.

I picked this glass off the beach myself. :)

I have always just admired it and thought it was so special and then I saw some listed here on Listia. So I decided to share my treasure :)

PLEASE NOTE: This glass is in all stages of transformation. Some is very frosted, some more polished, some less weathered or polished. Some smooth some not as smooth. SOLD AS IS!!

Nice auction honey! My kids and I always look for shells and driftwood at the beach. I don't ever remember seeing anything like this though.. how neat!!!

Oh please, please forgive me for my slow response. I had not heard of it either till my friend asked me, if I wanted to go "hunting" I though she was pulling my leg...LOL. These are a beautiful find my friend. I have do e some research on sea/ Beach glass myself and these look like there are supposed to be. These look like they don't have many years on them that why the are lightly frosted but the order glass would have a much more frosted look. Anyway u put it the winner will have a great collection and variation of colors. Best of luck.@@ til the end.

Thank you. I am sorry I lost my cool with that other person. Long day at work and not feeling well. It just hurts that someone would suggest I lied about finding these. I never anywhere said they were found in fresh water. There are some VERY frosted and smooth pieces in the bunch. Some not so much. It only stands to reason that some pieces were more worn by the sea than others. They are all beautiful to me, based on the bids so far and that comment I am regretting giving them up. I do they hope they go to someone like you, who will appreciate them. :)

Aww so sweet. Something dawned on me. When I was taking the pictures the beauty wasn't really coming through. I wet the glass so it would show up better. This probably made it appear less frosted or worn by the sea. If you look in the last picture you are better able to see them in their natural state :)
