Listed for your bidding consideration is this Rare and Hard to find, $1 Chip from the long closed Diamond Club poker room in New York City.
Some of the longest operating underground clubs have been in New York City. Two of these, the Diamond Club and the Mayfair Club, were famous proving grounds for such now well-known poker players as Howard Lederer, Erik Seidel and Dan Harrington. The New York Police Department, however, closed these clubs in the summer of 2000 during the Rudolph Giuliani administration’s law and order campaign.
The 1998 movie Rounders used the Diamond Club as the model for the “Teddy KGBs” casino, and the Mayfair Club was the model for “The Chesterfield Club”.
The Chip is the Standard Casino size and weighs 9.7 grams. It is light blue in color with three triple inserts that are Blue, White and Red. In the center is a Red Diamond and a Black Club and the denomination $1. At the bottom, states "New York City". It is the same design on both sides.
