I believe it's a reasonable start bid for this item. It retails at $19.50 & 2,000 credits is technically equivalent to not even 5 dollars on here. (3,000 is 5 dollars). Sorry :/

3000 is equivalent to about $3....
For sellers and buyers, a "typical" unwritten rule would be that about 1000 credits is equivalent to about $1. So - 20,000 credits is about $20. 3500 credits is $3.50... And so on.

Unless you are auctioning or bidding on gift cards. They tend to sell for alot more, sometimes double their face value. Like a $10 gift card, would end for about 15,000-20,000 credits. This seems to be something new, --about 6 months ago- the gift card values on here went up. They used to end at a $10 gift card ending with 10,000-11,000 credits. However- in January the amount/ value/ demand went up- so now they end at almost double the gift card amount.

Buying credits through the Listia offers is not a way to determine the value of a credit. Like all websites-they charge you more for purchasing the credits from them. I think probably bc the point in the site- is to list your own auctions. And if credits were cheap to buy, than less people would be listing auctions. So they do that to keep the whole "list your own auctions-to receive credits to bid on others auctions". That's the whole point in the site after all! :)
Your 2000 start bid is only valued at about $2. And considering shipping this will probably run about $2.32 - that's a great start bid!! I wouldn't have lowered it either!!
I know what you mean though, about not getting many credits for auctions lately. I don't know if many of listias members are just out on summer vacation or--what. But lately my auctions have been ending quite low as well. My opinion? Set the start bid at a amount that if only 1 person bid- you wouldn't be disappointed or missing out. I personally, would rather have a start bid of 10,000 credits and have just one person bid (giving me 10,000 creds) than have a start bid at 0-- and have 100 bidders, but it only end at 2400. You know? Lol
Anyway. Been watching! Will hopefully be bidding here soon. :) already a fan.
