Description

The listing, Live Plant! Prickly Pear Cactus! Edible! has ended.

Winner will recieve one live cactus pad! These pads are super easy to grow. Upon arrival you can literally stick your pad right on top or into the dirt and it will take root! Best way to plant is to bury part (aproximately half) of the pad at a partial angle so that some of the flat side of the pad is touching the dirt. Water twice the first week or so then only water every other week and given the proper growing conditions you can have a monster that towers over the roof of your house like mine in just several years. These pads grow and reproduce fast, and when in bloom have purple fruits! Pads and fruit both edible, just be sure to remove spines! Personally love mine roasted/grilled with olive oil salt and pepper. So good! Very healthy! Winner of the auction will recieve one small (the smaller are not only easier to ship, but are more successful at taking during a transplant) cactus pad aproximate 1-2 inches in size. See pictures with hand for approximation of the size of the pad you are bidding on.
Grow your own food; grow to your better health! Thanks for looking and best of luck!

Awesome! Yea these guys are pretty hardy and tough. When the pads get to big and heavy to support from branching out off other pads they snap, and when they fall to the floor they shrivel up a little bit, take root and begin an entire new mother-plant. Nice ornamental piece, and super healthy to eat. Birds don't get to the fruit too much because of the thorns, so overall a great plant, especially for those that might not have a green thumb. :) Good luck with your babies!

Yes they are super health and it is unfortunate that other stores do not carry them. Their is a store that is right on the border with Mexico that I like to go to and they have a lot of different items. They carry a lot of different herbs and items such as a complete hogs head. I enjoy just looking to see what is different I can find.

A whole hogs head, wow! Have to go to a butcher around here for specialty items such as that. I too love to find new plants at markets! Fun fun fun!
