So is this a one way directional adapter? Like only for hooking up an ide drive(of any type?) To a computers usb input? Or can I use a usb hard drive and connect it to the motherboards ide slot to use it as a primary boot drive?

yes it can be used for a boot hard drive but first you have to go into bios and put the settings for usb boot device. as # 2 boot device after cd rom. cd rom always has to be the first boot device that is imperative....!
