The listing, VERY RARE "GOOD LUCK" VINE! ~ MANSOA ALLIACEA ~ HARD TO FIND! ~ GIN 20 SEEDS!! has ended.
Auction= 5 SEEDS!
GIN= 20 SEEDS!!
South America's Mansoa alliacea or false garlic is the new super vine everyone is raving about...BUT no one can find!
Considered "Good Luck" this rain forest beauty doesn't belong to the garlic family, yet when its leaves are disturbed it produces a fragrant 'garlic-like' sent which acts as a natural repellent to keep those pesky garden "bloodsuckers" like mosquitoes and/or vampires at bay.
The leaves, when not battling biting monsters, are also dried and used for their garlic flavor in cooking.
But the real buzz about this striking climber, is its display of "three" fast growing colored blooms on the same plant! Lavender, pale lavender and white tubular flowers overflow this hardy vine most of the the year. This plant will bloom in mild cold, but not freezing temperatures.
Garlic vine is great for 'large' containers with support. Flowers appear on new growth so careful with the pruning!
ZONES: 8+
SUN: FULL
GERMINATION: (3rd PIC) This is my first year to grow this vine and my best results have been to just press the seed on top a moistened, raised, sunny, bed ~ sprinkle a little soil on top--and leave them alone. No pampering needed, unless the soil is dry or the seed is completely exposed, in which case just sprinkle on a little more moist soil. And then, just forget about them...they'll appear when ready!
