Description

The listing, Heirloom ✽ WONDER BERRY ✽ 15 Seeds ✽ Organic has ended.

Wonder berries, aka Sunberries or Garden Huckleberries are an interesting way to grow fruit in the garden without the long wait for bushes or trees to produce. An heirloom developed by Luther Burbank in the 1900's produce tasty fruit similar to small black, blueberries. They are good fresh, but even better when sweetened and cooked. I love making jam with them! Short plants produce good yields rather quickly. They are best when left on the plant as long as possible and turn from glossy to dull. Very easy to grow and fun for kids. I recommend growing in a raised bed for easy harvest. They ripen at the same time most tomatoes are ready, and will continue to produce until a hard frost.
Replant each spring, as they are an annual.
Family: Solanaceae (so-lan-AY-see-ee)
Genus: Solanum (so-LAN-num)
Species: x burbankii (bur-BANK-ee-eye)

This Auction: You will be receiving 15 seeds from my
garden. They will be sent First Class mail. I am happy to say that my seeds tested 99-100% germination within 2 weeks at a temp of 70°F in the spring. I even planted in late June & still got an excellent harvest. Great for beginners!

Propagation Method: From seed, sow seeds indoors 6 weeks before last spring frost. Sow 3-5 seeds per pot onto moist soil, but do not cover with soil. These need light to germinate. If they grow too tall and leggy, then you can add more soil to pots. About 10 days before the last spring frost, begin hardening the plants to the outdoors. Transplant your plants to a sunny location.
