Description

The listing, Heirloom MORTGAGE LIFTER Tomato seeds Want to grow a 5LB tomato? This is the one! has ended.

This is my 2nd year growing this HUGE variety and even though my other tomatoes didn't perform as good as usual due to sporadic rain these Mortgage Lifter plants THRIVED. I have been harvesting lots of 2-3 lb tomatoes and have already canned 32 quarts all from only 8 plants and they are still producing heavily! This is an amazing huge yielding tomato that comes from plants that are only 5 feet in height.

My Rutgers, Better Boy, and Delicious varieties are 12 feet tall and are still not producing as well as this variety. It is truly a massive beast when it comes to quality genetics and it can't be stopped. If you want to show off what a 5lb tomato looks like to the neighbors or at the local fair this is the one you want. The best thing is that even though it produces HUGE tomatoes they are super tasty with just the right amount of acid for a bite that most large varieties just don't have. There are no watered down, tough skin, ugly tomatoes with this one. It has become my favorite and I'm planning on making a run at the world record with it once I create a few hybrids.

Since this is a heirloom untouched it will consistently yield the same large tomatoes year after year without degradation.

The seeds you are bidding on are from this year and are as fresh as you can get. I have used a natural fermentation process on them to remove the seed coat that inhibits germination and slow dried them with no artificial methods. The plants that yielded these seed tomatoes were also 100% Organically grown without any pesticides and only fertilized using worm castings and manure/compost.

YOU WILL GET 25 SEEDS that will be ready to go.

Mortgage Lifter was developed by Radiator Charlie of Kentucky in the 1940s. Charlie crossed the largest tomatoes he could find and produced plants with such large tomatoes that the sale of his plants over the years paid off his mortgage! Full flavor tomatoes will reach up to 5 lbs at their largest! Plant in full sun. Indeterminate.

I was wondering how easy they are to grow and if they can be grown in my garden room? It is mighty hot here and I'm not sure how well they would do outside. Thank you!

These are very easy to grow. They are not picky at all. It is 90+ here and has been with little rain and those same plants are still producing now. You should be able to grow these in the valley but will need to make sure you water them in the evening like all the plants. I used to live in Weslaco and I have sent some of my seeds of this variety from last year to friends there and they have nice healthy plants outdoors. They will also grow in a room if you decide to do so.
