The listing, Japanese Parsley - Mitsuba - Authentic Asian Herb - Heirloom, Non GMO Seeds has ended.
This native Japanese herb is called Japanese hornwort or Japanese wild parsley. It is a popular traditional vegetable of Japan. Long, attractive stalks have trefoil leaves that are aromatic. Although perennial by nature, this plant is grown as an annual food crop. Excellent grown as microgreens.
• Perennial
• Maturity: Approx. 50-60 days
• Planting season: Late spring/fall
• The taste of mitsuba is chervil-meets-celery leaf.
• All parts of the plant — seeds, flowers, roots — are edible, but the leaves are most commonly used.
• The name mitsuba means “three leaves” in Japanese, a reference to the way foliage appears in stems.
• The leaves can become bitter if cooked too long, so they are added as a garnish in miso soup, on top of rice bowl dishes or with stir-fry. They are put raw in salads or sushi.
Auction is for approximately 100 seeds packaged by Kitizawa Seeds for the 2014 growing season. Seeds are heirloom and non-GMO.
