Questions & Comments
Mr. LEE, You sure know a lot about watches. I appreciate the info & advice, I'll give it a shot! And if I do get it to open and it does work when I put in a new battery, I delete this auction. Thank you! JUST KIDDING**** You've most helpful!!!
You know I don't know, because I don't know how to open the back and I'm afraid if I tried I'd break it. I bought thus at a yard sale and the gal said it did work at one time????

I can assure you that the watch is about 5 years old and made in Japan. I recognize the stem, which is the same on all of them.
Look closely around the circumference of the back. There should be a little spot where you could slip in a bitter knife of pocket knife (careful!!!!).
Once seated in the slot, repeatedly rotate the knife—don't push it so the blade hits your other hand—just keep rotating with your wrist, and it will pop open. If you're nervous about it (and I still am), cover the back with painter's tape, masking tape, or something like that (JUST the back: don't tape the back shut) and hold the watch using a towel or thick oven mittens.
Persistence will open the back, and on these watches it's not too hard. You'll see a TON of empty space, with a battery and movement about the size of a thumbnail.
