Questions & Comments
Oh I would LOVE to have some lavender to grow in my yard! It is my favorite scent !! I hope I win this !! I fanned you....
Lavender can be grown in zones 4 to 10, The biggest killers of lavenders are root-rotting diseases – humidity and wet soils. This is especially true for the English lavenders. The best soil for growing lavender is gritty or sandy loam with a pH factor between 6.0 and 8.0 thank you! :0)
I am trying to become less ... subservient... if you will... to the 'grid' (ie: water/electricity bills) and am seriously considering installing a clothesline. Along that vein, it would be nice to plant these where the lovely odor can permeate the drying clothes.
Are they happier in a direct sun or shade environment?
direct sun but can tolerate partial shade, that's a lovely idea for your clothes to smell great! sounds weird but if you cut a bundle and tie the ends of them you can beat that wonderful scent right onto your clothes and it will intensify by ten fold! see the lavender puts more smell out when its touched so hitting it on your clothes would be great just a thought :0)
Wow Bugieluv, I have always had a clothes line, so to me that is a GREAT idea...love the thought of beating the lovely smell of lavender into my clothes !! TY
