The listing, Deep Purple Hyacinth Bean Seeds, Non-Edible has ended.
Gorgeous spikes of vining purple flowers with beans (seed pods) from mid-summer to first frost. Very easy to grow, no green thumb required!
Just plant 1/2" deep in full sun to partial shade, keep moist until established, water during dry spells.
Last summer they covered our lattice on the outside of our back porch. Everyone that came over commented on their beauty. Of course they all got a few seed pods to take home and plant. Even the leaves are a beautiful heart shape. I had these planted with the white Hyacinth Beans. A great combination!
They will need a fence, lattice or trellis to climb up.
You will receive 14 seeds from 2010, ready for this years planting. If I can find more, I will add them to this packet.
Save the seed pods when they have finished blooming and dry them (the pods will turn crispy brown when dry). Either hang the whole stem to dry or remove the seeds. Then label them and store in a dry place until next spring to plant or trade! I use recycled junk mail envelopes to store seeds, and then file them in a box.
The purple beans are the seed pods.
Can you see the Butterfly on the right? They love them!
