I am trying to understand silver---when it is 999.3 instead of the 9999 then it just means it has less silver ---is it still worth something far as collecting silver or does it have to be the .9999 for any value?
As I understand, they put in 0.07% copper in coins or they would be to soft and wear out to fast. Since silver bars would not be carried around they are .9999. The small amount of copper in the coin doesn't effect the value of the coin, it is still 1 oz of silver and is worth the current value of silver on the market. I hope this helps.
