Questions & Comments
thank you!! I buy and sell vintage sterling, also deal in Native American jewelry. If I can help someone's auction out by sharing my knowledge I do so. I hope that it helps and if I were you I would change the title of your auction with Bell Trading Post in the title.. there are collectors of Native American that will come look just because you put that
The Bell Trading Company was founded in Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1935 by Jack Michelson and his wife Mildred. They sold Native American Indian jewelry at various tourist locations in the southwestern United States until the late 1980s. Their main competitor was Maisel’s Indian Trading Post. The Bell company got its name from Jack’s wife, whose maiden name was Bell. The types of jewelry sold by Bell Trading included sterling silver, nickel silver, gold, and copper. They produced Fred Harvey/tourist pieces which were made by Native Americans. Alot of the jewelry was made from nickel silver, copper, sterling and turquoise.
