The listing, Chilian Mesquite Tree sprouted seedling has ended.
Mesquites are popular choices for landscaping in Southern Arizona and the default choice seems to be the South American hybrid version often called “Chilean mesquite” . It is a favorite with contractors and many homeowners because it grows quickly. The foliage is pretty much evergreen. Must be tied and staked as it is frequently blown over tree during the monsoon. Seed pods are harvested for a mesquite flour. The tree these pods were harvested from is huge now about 8 years old – grown from seed as a volunteer in my brother-in-laws yard. Even after frequent pruning it is over 30 feet tall and has a wide spread . I will ship 5pods with one sprouted seedling 6" tree plus 4"root pulled this morning after torrential rain made ground soft!
