The listing, Butternut Squash Seeds for Fall Gardens, 4 or gin for 8 has ended.
Yummy butternut squash for fall planting (in the south). You will need to cover them when weather is too cold, but come spring you will have a head start..or in colder weather plant in pots to transplant in the spring. Mine have mostly come up in the compost pile and grow by themselver..the potatoes and tomatoes in the pic are from the compost pile.
One hill of 3-4 seeds can produce up to 15 or more squash. Last year mine made 15 before the squash bug got to the vines. The picture of the three with the roma tomatoes are some of the ones I produced in my back yard.. We like them in casseroles with ground meat or Italian sausage or cut up and sauteed with onions, red bell peppers, herbs and spices...or boiled with sugar butter and a little creamora or whipping cream. Yummie.. Even the seeds are edible, they can be roasted or eaten raw..They need lots of room to grow..the vines get very long..
One great thing about them is they can be stored up to 6 months..just make sure you leave the stem end on them or they will rot. I cut them off with about a 1/2" -3/4" stem intact.
