It means that someone else had already entered a bid that was higher than your bid. You see, in any auction you can enter a maximum amount you are willing to bid. However, the auction will only show the amount of credits it took to beat out the previous bid. For example, at the beginning of an auction, say someone put in a max bid of 5000, but the auction only needs a bid of 100 to show who is in the lead. This means that as people continue to bid the amount will raise. This can continue until the one who bid 5000 is beaten by one who bids higher than 5000. You can put in a max bid of your choosing, but the auction will only show the number of credits needed to beat the previous bidder.
